304 belongs to low nickel austenitic stainless steel, which is the
most common type of 200 series stainless steel and is widely used
due to its low price. Most of the 200 series stainless steels sold
in the Chinese market hardly control the sulfur and carbon content
according to the national standard, and replace some or all nickel
with manganese (and nitrogen) to produce lower nickel content of
austenitic stainless steel.
